Last updated: April 2026 (added Google user data sharing disclosure)
This Privacy Policy explains how Sorted ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use the Sorted app for iPhone ("the app"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling any information transparently.
We do not collect, store, or have access to:
There is no Sorted account system. Nothing you do in the app is tied to an identity we hold.
Sorted can save events to your calendar in two ways, depending on your choice during setup:
Sorted requests permission to read and write to your iPhone Calendar via Apple's EventKit framework. This access is used solely to save events you choose to add. We do not read, transmit, or store your existing calendar data. Calendar data never leaves your device.
If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Sorted will ask you to sign in with your Google account via Google's secure OAuth 2.0 flow. By granting access, Sorted can:
Sorted accesses only the data necessary to perform these actions. We do not read, transmit, or store your existing Google Calendar events or any other Google account data.
What is stored on your device: Your Google account email address and OAuth access/refresh tokens are stored in your device's secure Keychain. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us. It is used only to authenticate requests to the Google Calendar API on your behalf.
Revoking access: You can disconnect Google Calendar at any time from Sorted's Settings screen. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page. Disconnecting removes all stored tokens from your device.
Sharing, transfer, and disclosure of Google user data: Sorted does not share, transfer, sell, or disclose your Google user data — including your Google account email, OAuth tokens, or any Google Calendar data — to any third party, for any purpose. Google user data is used exclusively to perform the calendar actions you request within the app and is stored only on your device. No Google user data is sent to our servers, Anthropic, Cloudflare, or any other party.
Sorted's use of Google Calendar data complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
When you import a newsletter, its text or images are sent to our secure processing proxy (hosted on Cloudflare Workers) which forwards the content to Anthropic's Claude API to extract event information.
The proxy uses a shared secret to verify requests come from the Sorted app. Your Anthropic API key is never exposed to the app or stored on your device.
Sorted stores the following data locally on your device only, using Apple's standard secure storage (UserDefaults and app sandbox):
This data is private to your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party. It may be included in iCloud backups if you have iCloud Backup enabled — this is controlled by your iPhone settings, not Sorted.
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Purchase records are managed by Apple's StoreKit and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sorted uses the following third-party services:
We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking frameworks.
Sorted is designed for use by parents and guardians. The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Child profile information (names and colours) entered by parents is stored only on the local device and is never transmitted to us.
Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing for us to delete. All data stored by Sorted lives on your device. You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the Sorted app from your iPhone.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
